How do I take the tests for VTM certification?
We are currently working on testing packages for the Wing Chun University curriculums. These packages can be purchased when a student has studied the material provided in the curriculums and is ready to test for certification from the Ving Tsun Museum.
The test package will include videos of the forms, techniques and drills you will need to be able to perform for certification. It will also include instructions for the written/oral part of the test. When you purchase the test package you will also receive a link for uploading your videos for evaluation. The price of the test package includes all of the videos, documents, links and evaluation fees associated with advancement through the Ving Tsun Museum and Wing Chun University. You may submit your videos for evaluation up to three times per test package purchase. If you have not received a passing evaluation within three submissions then you can either pay an additional evaluation fee or make a personal visit to the Ving Tsun Museum for live evaluation.
Is a training partner required for WCU?
While there is a great deal of Wing Chun training that can be done solo, there are also elements of the training that require a partner. You can certainly learn, and benefit from, the forms and techniques. There are also many drills and exercises that can practiced solo. However, Wing Chun is a combat system and it does require practice with a live partner to fully develop. For example, Chi Sau - Wing Chun's "Auto Pilot" training - cannot be done without a live partner. You must feel the living energy of a live opponent to train your automatic response to incoming energy. Keep in mind, though, that your enrollment with Wing Chun University entitles you to two free visits per year to the Ving Tsun Museum for training with Master Benny Meng and his senior instructors.
